Volunteer at MANNA: Join Our 2026 Fall Service Day
On September 29, the PatientWing team is spending the day in MANNA's kitchen. We're looking for people from the Philly life sciences and healthcare community to come with us.
Imagine you've had a really hard day at work. And you still have to go home and cook.
You have to figure out what you're making. Buy the ingredients. Prep them, cook them, do the dishes, and then finally eat. Think about the hardest day you've had, with all of that still waiting for you. We've all been there. When you're that tired, cooking is the last thing you want to do.
Now imagine that same day, but you have a serious illness. The idea seems unfathomable.
That's where MANNA comes in. This fall, PatientWing team is stepping away from our desks to volunteer at MANNA and support local neighbors.
What is MANNA and Who Do They Serve?
MANNA cooks for people who can't. Their kitchen is located on North 20th Street in Philadelphia, where staff and dedicated volunteers prepare meals for Philadelphians living with serious illnesses and deliver them right to their front doors. They provide three nutritious meals a day, seven days a week, at no cost to clients.
The meals are medically tailored, which means the food is carefully built around what that person's requires. Someone with a kidney condition doesn't get the same meal as someone going through chemotherapy.
They have been doing this vital work since 1990, when seven people from a Philadelphia church started bringing food to neighbors who were dying of AIDS. Since then, MANNA has nourished community members living with more than 100 different illnesses. You can learn more about their history directly on the official MANNA website.
Why We Are Choosing to Volunteer at MANNA

We spend our days connecting people to clinical studies and making health information easier to understand for families living with a condition. The people MANNA cooks for are the same people we strive to help every day. We help them find clinical options; MANNA makes sure they eat.
This service day matters so much to us because it brings everything full circle. These are our local neighbors, and they are the people our daily work is dedicated to. We want to show up for them in more than one way, which is why we continue to volunteer at MANNA as a unified company.
Our Ongoing Pledge 1% Commitment

PatientWing signed on to Pledge 1% in 2021, dedicating 1% of our time directly back to the community. For us, that looks like a service day every quarter where the whole company participates together. It is not an optional volunteer committee or just whoever happens to have a free afternoon, everybody near Philly comes, from our executive team to our newest hire.
Most of our clinical trial enrollment work supports individuals wherever in the country they happen to be, but Pledge 1% keeps us grounded right at home. Philadelphia is where we work and where many of us live, and our neighbors need support too. Earlier this year, we completed our first service day alongside TransPerfect, and in June, we served community lunches at Broad Street Love. On September 29, our entire team will volunteer at MANNA for our official fall initiative.
How You Can Volunteer at MANNA With Us
We are inviting colleagues from across the Philadelphia life sciences and healthcare community to spend the afternoon serving with us. If you work in clinical research, at a hospital, for a biopharma sponsor, or at a CRO, you already know what a severe illness does to a person's life. This is a chance to step away from the screen and make a tangible difference with your hands.
No special kitchen experience is required, the MANNA culinary team will walk you through every step of meal preparation and packaging.
